Program Note:

The literal meaning of interlochen is "between the lakes". This piece was written to describe what makes Interlochen Center for the Arts special. I attended Interlochen Arts Camp in the summer of 2019, and it was a life-changing experience for me. The first movement, The Trees, portrays the beautiful natural wonders that exist on the Interlochen campus. The second movement, The Structures, describes the useful performance venues, classrooms, and rehearsal spaces which dot the campus. And finally, the third movement, The People, delves into what really makes Interlochen one-of-a-kind: the people.

The premiere of this piece was given in August 2019 at Interlochen Center of the Arts by student musicians.
